SAFETY PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES

Employee Procedures

  • When employees and their personal children arrive, they will be greeted at the back door to have their temperatures checked. ALL employees and children above the age of 10 must be wearing a face mask until their temperature has been checked and reads normal (less than 100.4 degrees).

  • All hands will be sanitized before continuing into the building.

  • Employees will then pick up their clear face shield, place it on their head correctly, and begin their day. ALL face shields will be cleaned daily and left at the MDO facility.

Student Procedures

MORNING DROP OFF

  • To properly ensure sanitation throughout our facility, we are implementing Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up. This will help limit the number of individuals in and out of the facility at any given time.

  • When entering our facility parking lot, you will be directed by signs on where and how to drive through our Drop Off/Pick Up line.

  • Every family will be given several laminated copies of a Drop Off/Pick Up sign that will need to be placed in your front windshield. Please make sure this sign is visible to us as you pull through the line. This sign will include your child’s first and last name, as well as their classroom.

    • If you have more than one child, you will have multiple signs in your windshield during Drop Off/Pick Up time.

**The laminated sign in your windshield will serve as the Drop Off/Pick Up receipt for your child/children. If someone else will be picking up your child/children that day, they will need to have the laminated sign in their windshield, as permission for us to let your child/children leave our facility with them.

  • When driving up to the Drop Off/Pick Up area, it is very important that you remain in your vehicle at all times.

    • I know this is difficult, however, it will help ensure safety and help our line to continue moving at a normal pace.

  • Our Administrative team with greet you as your vehicle pulls through the Drop Off/Pick Up area. Each team member will be wearing a face shield for everyone’s protection.

  • When greeted, our Administrative team will open the car door, converse with the child/children for a brief moment, take their temperature and then carefully unbuckle the child/children from their car seat(s).

  • The child/children and their personal items will be held by the Administrative team member, while blowing kisses and telling the Drop Off/Pick Up adult to have a great day and we will see them soon!

  • One of the child/children’s teachers will be waiting for them in the foyer area and will walk them to class (who knows, they might even race or skip to class!).

  • Before the child enters the classroom, their hands will be sanitized by the teacher.

  • All teachers assisting the Administrative team in Drop Off/Pick Up, will be required to sanitize their hands between each child they assist.

CLASSROOM

  • Any time someone leaves the classroom, whether student or teacher, all hands will be washed before reentering the classroom.

TOYS

  • Toys within each classroom will be cleaned mid-morning, during nap time and at the end of each day using hospital grade sanitizing spray or wipes.

  • Every Wednesday, all toys will be removed from the classrooms and run through the facility’s industrial dishwasher.

BATHROOMS

  • All student bathroom areas will be cleaned by the Administrative team mid-morning, during nap time, and during other high traffic times to ensure the highest cleanliness possible.

    • All bathroom areas will continue to be deep cleaned at the conclusion of the day by our staff.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

(Music Monday/Workout Wednesday)

  • When attending an extracurricular activity (Music Monday/Workout Wednesday), only one classroom will walk down the hallway at a time and attend the extracurricular activity. The classroom leaving the extracurricular activity, will walk down a separate hallway leading to their next activity.

    • The instructor leading all extracurricular activities will be responsible to wipe down all doorknobs and equipment used during the session before the next classroom arrives (all cleaning products used are hospital grade disinfecting spray and sanitizing wipes).

PLAYGROUND

  • Outdoor time is so essential for children. We want to continue to offer this activity to all classrooms, age appropriate, while also maintaining safe boundaries. To do so, we have arranged all classroom schedules so that one classroom at a time has the opportunity to enjoy the playground area.

  • Before coming back inside from the playground area, every child will have their hands sanitized by their teacher.

  • The teachers will also follow up with cleaning any latches and door handles they touched on their way in and out of the playground area (all cleaning products used are hospital grade disinfecting spray and sanitizing wipes).

LUNCH

  • All tables and chairs will be cleaned and sanitized prior to lunch time starting (all cleaning products used are hospital grade disinfecting spray and sanitizing wipes).

  • All children and teacher’s hands will be washed before starting lunch time distribution and opening.

  • Teachers will also wear gloves during lunch time to add another barrier of protection when handling student’s drinks and food.

  • At the conclusion of lunch, all members of the classroom will once again wash their hands to ensure that all germs that could have touched the hands during eating time are removed.

NAP TIME

  • Nap time for each class will take place in their individual classrooms.

  • Nap mats will be spread throughout the classroom so each child has sufficient space all around them.

  • Nap mats will be sent home every Wednesday for proper washing/cleaning.

    • Please make sure and wash all nap mats when they are sent home to help keep proper cleanliness in and out of the facility.

Covid-19 Procedures

If a student or staff member has displayed symptoms of COVID-19, the MDO Director will provide an assessment to determine if and when a student/staff member needs to be sent home.

If a student or staff member is assessed and exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 during the school day, the classroom will be relocated in an alternate area while the room is being disinfected.

Any individuals who are lab confirmed to have COVID-19 or experience symptoms of COVID-19, must self-isolate throughout the infection period and cannot return to MDO until the MDO Director screens the individual to determine if the below conditions for re-entry have been met:

1. At least 24 hours with no fever (without the use of fever-reducing medications)
2. Improvement in symptoms (cough, shortness of breath
3. At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared

In the case of an individual who has symptoms that could be COVID- 19 and who is not evaluated by a medical professional or tested for COVID-19, it will be assumed that the individual has COVID-19 and the individual may not return to MDO until they have completed the same set of standards listed above.

If the individual has symptoms that could be COVID-19 and wants to return to MDO before completing the above stay at home period, the individual must either obtain a medical professionals note clearing them for return based on an alternative diagnosis or receive two separate confirmations at least 24 hours apart that they are free of COVID via acute infection tests at an approved COVID-19 testing location.

All families within the MDO community will be notified if a student or teacher have a confirmed case of COVID-19. Students or staff who come in close contact with a lab confirmed case of COVID-19 will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days and should contact the MDO program when they can meet the “Return to MDO” criteria.

This includes an entire classroom within our program if one individual in the classroom contracts the virus. Due to limiting contact between classrooms throughout the school day, all other classrooms within our program may still attend MDO as usual.
